There is a major difference between using a bong and vaporizer to enjoy marijuana. The process that the weed goes through before being inhaled is a lot different and the health risks of each method is different as well.
Bong
If you use a glass bong you are burning the marijuana in the bowl piece. This will create smoke which goes through the stem and usually passes through water to be filtered. While it’s debatable you are likely losing some THC in the water.
The water is meant to filter out tar but since you’re likely losing some THC the THC/tar ratio weakens. The marijuana is still smoke once it reaches the mouth piece and is inhaled. There is still quite a bit of tar and other carcinogens in the marijuana once inhaled as smoke.
Vaporizer
There is no need for using a water filter with a vaporiser because there is no smoke created from using a vapouriser. If a vaporizer were to use a water filter it would likely filter the THC and other potent active ingredients from the vapor and making it useless.
Vaporizers are designed to be a healthier method of smoking marijuana. There has also been a lot of attention on using vaporizers to vaporizer medical marijuana as well. With a high quality vaporiser you won’t be inhaling any harmful ingredients.
If the unit is cheaply made you may still inhale some tar or carcinogens but not nearly as much as you would from a bong hit. Your lungs will definitely feel a lot better if you switch to using a vaporizer.
