Types of Vaporizers – Conduction and Convection

Vaporizers are available with various designs. Different vaporizers use different heating methods. Two of the most common methods used as a heat source to vaporize your weed in the vaporizer would be the conduction and convection method.

Conduction Method
Some vaporizers use the conduction method. One model which has been around for a while is the BC Vaporizer and uses the conduction method. Vaporizers that use the conduction method receive heat from a metal plate that the marijuana sits on. The hot metal plate connecting with the marijuana can cause combustion so most new vaporizer models don’t use this method.

Convection Method
With this method there is no chance of combustion. The marijuana gets heated from hot air flowing through the vaporizer. Most vaporizers being made are using the convection heating method. The way that the air in the vaporizer is heated can vary depending on the vaporizer model.

There are three main ways that most vaporizers heat the air to vaporize the marijuana. Using a heat gun was one of the most common methods but now things have changed. Various models like the Volcano Vaporizer use an aluminum heating element. With the reputation of the Volcano Vaporizer many would consider this as the best method of heating the vaporizer. Other vaporizers also use ceramic elements and halogen light bulbs.
